ABOUT BALTIMORE CANVAS Products

Baltimore Shade & Awning was founded in 1917 in Baltimore, Md, as a two-man company that manufactured and sold awnings and shades. In 1951, Harry Hansen, Sr. purchased the company and increased the product line to include custom canvas work such as: bags, boat, truck and car covers. In 1954, Harry created Baltimore Canvas Products, Inc. and moved the company to W. Franklin St in Baltimore. Rick Hansen, Harry’s son and the current president, took over Baltimore Canvas Products in the 1970’s. Rick is an expert in design and fabrication. He designs from an aesthetic and structural standpoint and has created many functional, custom awnings and unique canvas products. He is always willing to provide advice and develop plans together. In our new facility we continue our traditional work mixed with the best modern designs. We still use personal sewing machines, as we did in 1917, but we now offer the best architectural awnings including shade systems with functional open-air spaces to expand outdoor seating.
